Clock Tower
by David Sharp
Description:
An old run-down town with a clock tower. The user
starts out in the clock tower on the roof of the church, and is then
free to explore some of the surrounding areas.
Motivation:
In trying to give a mildly creepy feel to my CAVE
scene, I decided to contrast the cold mechanical precision of a large
clock with the run-down and deserted town that surrounds it. Moths
flutter about in the abandoned tower overlooking the old ghost town.
Navigation:
For the most part navigation is straightforward. The
viewer starts out inside the clock tower. The bells in front will
hopefully be able to be individually rung by touching them with the
wand. The viewer can get down from the roof easily enough by simply
dropping off the edge. The ladder leaning up against one side of the
roof can also be used to get to the ground, as well as serving as the
only path back up to the tower.

A simple Maya editor view of some of the church with its clock tower,
ladder, and the moon in the distance.

The CAVE simulator running on the SGIs in FA215 aren't able to
accurately show the transparency. These are three gears of the clock,
along with the clock hands. (The clock's face is still in progress.)

A shot of the four bells in the clock tower, along with the two moths
that currently inhabit it. Note, the textures look correct in Maya but
for some reason have been exporting incorrectly to the Inventor file.
