T440, Fall Sem. 07

Junglenoise

The main concept of this piece was to create ajungle  environment with different types of animals and plants  surrounding a little pond area. Within this environment I wanted to give a mystical feel to the creatures and pond area. I focused the lighting on the pond area, in order to enhance its feel, but at the same time I have numerous shadows which gives it that feel that you are really on the rainforest bottom. I  created a couples of different plants  and scatted them throughout the scene, by doing so it, gives the rainforest floor a better feel and also creates even heavier shadows on the ground.

The colors I ended up choosing for everything in the scene came from web images; I did not web rob, but instead I just eye dropped on the colors from the web pictures and then created my own textures in photoshop. I feel that the colors work really well together and I really enjoyed working on this piece cause its just one of those pieces you can constantly think of more things to add to the scene. For that very reason, that was the biggest challenge of this piece; once I completed something and started working on a new mode or texture, I would have a new idea and then I would start working on that while I would forget about what I was really working on. The scale of things are appropriate for the scene, all the plants and animals fit well within their environment, and came  out really nice as well.

The inspiration for this piece came from Animusic and a poison dart frog. From there I started to created an entire scene that would become magical and enchanting. The scene is a place where anyone would love to go visit and relax by, and that is what I like about it most. In order to creat e the scene, I imported a couple  of different images inorder to get the scale right for the models. I modeled all the rocks just by pulling and tugging on the vertexÕs, and I just kin of went with it until I got the looked that I liked. For some of the plants and for the waterfall I ended up playing around with the paint effects tool, which ended up coming out with a nice touch for the scene.
