The Solar Wind

My inspiration for this work was derived from Scott Deal’s piece, “The Solar Wind”, hence the title of this project. It is basically a visualization of an imagined colorful space, the center of which is the sun. However, this is not an ordinary space; it is a space of ruins from a destroyed world. In this world the sun is not shinning; it is transparent and broken into layers. Everything else is also broken into pieces. The solar wind is creating a colorful wave, protecting what is left, giving hope for the future.

My focus on this work was to create the experience of navigation within the 3D environment I developed. I didn’t want to focus on the model itself; and for that; I only used simple shapes. I wanted to create a sense of exploration by presenting the items of the model gradually, while moving within the environment, providing a different sense and experience in each viewpoint. The shapes are unfolding as one moves towards this world and discovers parts of it that didn’t know that existed. The images are imposing and the combination of colors harmonic.
