Man Ray's mannequin at the 1938 Surrealist Exhibition in Paris, (is noted as) the "climax of surrealist activity." Sixteen artists were invited to adorn rented store mannequins: "I left mine nude with glass tears on the face and glass soap-bubbles in the hair. (see "Self-Portrait" p. 233, caption).
